Adding the Child's Details

What information we need about the child and how it's used to personalise the storybook.

Written by Jaco Gerrits

The first step in creating your book is telling us about the child who'll star in the story.

Important: the main character must be a child. Toddles books are designed around a child aged 2–7 as the hero of their adventure. Adults — including parents, grandparents, and friends — and pets cannot be the main character. They can be added as supporting characters (see the Adding Supporting Characters article).

What we ask for:

  • Name - This is used throughout the story and on the book cover.

  • Age - Helps us tailor the language and storyline to be age-appropriate. Supported range is 2–7 years old.

  • Gender - Used to personalise illustrations and story references.

  • About / Interests - A short description of what the child loves. This helps us weave their personality into the story (e.g., "loves dinosaurs and playing in the garden").

  • Language - Choose the language for your story.

All of these details can be edited before you finalise your order.
