A dedication is a short, personal message that appears near the front of your book — a lovely way to make the keepsake feel even more special. Here's everything you need to know about adding one.
Where does the dedication appear?
Your dedication is printed on its own page near the start of the book, just before the story begins. If you don't add a custom message, we include a warm default dedication automatically, so the page is never blank.
How to add a dedication
There are two easy ways:
Right after checkout - On the order confirmation screen, tap Add a Special Message to write your dedication.
From your dashboard - Find your book, tap the ... (options) icon on the book card, and choose Edit Dedication. You can write a new message or update an existing one here at any time.
Important: timing matters
This is the key thing to know:
Your dedication must be set before your book goes to print. The best time to do this is during your review window, before you approve the book.
Once a book has been sent to print — including when the 48-hour review window closes and the book is automatically sent to production — any changes you make to the dedication will only apply to future print orders and the digital version. They will not change a book that has already been printed.
In other words: if you add or edit your dedication after the book has already gone to print, the printed copy on its way to you will still show whatever dedication was set at the time it was printed (which may be the default message).
How to edit an existing dedication
Use the same Edit Dedication option from your dashboard book menu. The same timing rule applies — edits only affect prints that haven't been produced yet, plus your digital edition.
I've already received my book and the dedication is wrong or missing
