Can I Reuse a Character Across Books?

Find out whether illustrated characters from one Toddles book can be carried over or reused in a new book.

Written by Jaco Gerrits

Each Toddles book generates brand-new characters from scratch, based on the photos, details, and adventure theme you provide for that specific book. Illustrated characters — including their appearance, style, and story role — are unique to each book and cannot be reused or carried over to a new one.

This means that if you create a second book for the same child, a new illustrated character will be generated from the photo you upload for that book. If you use the same photo, the new illustration will look similar — but it is generated fresh every time.

Why does this work this way?

Each book is a standalone creation. The illustrations are generated as part of a complete, cohesive story — tied to the specific adventure theme, illustration style, and character details you chose. Reusing characters across different themes or styles would not be technically possible without regenerating them from scratch anyway.

What if I want the same look and feel?

Use the same photo and the same illustration style when creating the new book. This gives the most consistent result across books.
