What Changes Can I Request During Review?

Understand what types of changes can be made during the review process, and what would require a new book order.

When you receive your book preview, you can request changes if something isn't quite right. The review process is designed to ensure the quality of your book meets our standards — and yours.

Changes we can make:

  • Fixing illustration quality issues (e.g., a face that doesn't look quite right, proportions that seem off, or colours that need adjusting).

  • Correcting typos or grammatical errors in the story text.

  • Addressing story content that doesn't reflect the interests or details you provided.

  • Fixing layout or formatting problems.

  • Correcting a character name that's misspelled or used inconsistently.

Changes that require a new book:

Some requests go beyond what the review process covers because they involve regenerating the story, illustrations, or both from scratch. These include:

  • Changing a supporting character — for example, replacing a best friend with a sibling, or swapping one character type for another. The story and illustrations were built around the characters you originally chose.

  • Uploading a new or different photo — illustrations are generated from the photos you provided during creation. A different photo means new illustrations need to be created.

  • Changing the adventure theme — the entire storyline is built around your chosen theme.

  • Changing the illustration style — every illustration in the book would need to be regenerated.

  • Changing the story language — the full story text would need to be rewritten.

  • Changing the child's name, age, or gender — these details shape both the story and illustrations throughout the book.

  • Significantly changing the child's interests — for example, changing from "loves dinosaurs" to "loves unicorns." The story was crafted around the original description.

  • Requesting a fundamentally different storyline — the story is generated based on your chosen theme and the child's details. A completely different story is essentially a new book.

Why can't these changes be made during review?

Each Toddles book is custom-generated using the details, photos, and preferences you provide during creation. When a change request involves altering those original inputs, it means generating an entirely new book — new story, new illustrations, or both. That's why these changes aren't possible within the review process.

What can I do instead?

If you'd like a book with different characters, a different theme, or other significant changes, you're welcome to create a new book with your updated preferences. Your original book will still be available on your dashboard.

If you're unsure whether a change can be made, just let us know when you submit your request — we're happy to help.
